Cycle of life, by Barbara Herman, Palmerton, PA
I chose a single Tree of Life to represent God and the First Commandment. Under the tree are the seeds that were sewn. The tree symbolizes resurrection, revival, immortality and the never-ending cycle of life. The caterpillars signify the union of man and woman as well as the union of Christ and the Church. Two hydrangea bushes represent purity, grace and understanding. Eight butterflies show a new beginning, meaning and order of creation. Like butterflies, we have to shed the old before we can become anew.
