  • Wednesday's walking tour of Dresden.
  • Staff member Audrey Riley poses on a picturesque Dresden street corner. The temperature reached 80 degrees on this wonderfully sunny day.
  • The Frauenkirche (Church of Our Lady) in the main square of Dresden. Destroyed by the English bombing of Dresden in 1945, the church has been rebuilt with assistance from around the world. It opened about 1 1/2 years ago. It is an extraordinary site.
  • The large statute visible in the center of the photo is of Martin Luther. When the church was destroyed in 1945 parts of it struck the Luther statute and threw him to the ground. He was quickly restored to his post in the square.
  • The cross atop the church was created by an Englishman, the son of one who participated in the bombing raid of Dresden. It is a church of peace and reconciliation, an example for the world.
